At SPF we want:
Work that is of and for the body
Work that shirks “normal”
Work that questions and performs ideas of selfhood
Work that gives voice to the texture of landscapes and the humans who inhabit them
Work that asks questions of language, style, and form
Work that resurrects old traditions and makes something new from their bones
Work that is dialectal
Work that makes our brains churn and our flesh tingle
Work that grinds in a healthy dose of the political
Work that bares your acute and complex emotional topography
Work that is punk af
Work that is oversaturated and dreamy
Work that exists somewhere in-between
Work that queers literature
Work that is feminist
Work that is intersectional
Work that is anti-racist
Work that stings us
About Casa Libre:
SPF exists under the wing of Literary Arts Nonprofit Casa Libre en La Solana.
Casa Libre inspires writers and artists to take risks and manifest their artistic dreams. We believe expression is a vital part of nourishing the human spirit.
Our mission is to cultivate and enrich a vibrant community of writers and artists through the invention, presentation, and appreciation of creative work.
Casa Libre provides opportunities for classes, residencies, readings, and workshops, and provides the resources and support writers need to make their artistic dreams a reality. Casa hosts the Fair Weather Reading Series.
Casa Libre en la Solana is supported by grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the Arts Foundation of Tucson and Southern Arizona.
